Bible Sunday

Youths of parishes neary by Toungoo gathered together for the celebration of Bible Sunday at St. John the Baptist's Church, Toungoo on August 26, Sunday from 12:00 to 3:00 pm. Collection received K. 50450 will be donated to Myanmar Bible Society as usual.

Moithers' Union Training

Mothers' Union conducted a short training for member under age 45 at St. Mark's Church, Thandaung Myothit from August 16 to 19 and 65 from 20 parishes attended. They worshop and study bible together, learned different topics and subjects and singing together and have fellowship. Nant Elizabeth San San Htay, Daw Zune Wun, Naw Blossom, Naw Htoo Lay Aung, bishop John Wilme are resource persons and Rev. Aung Khine Nyunt led bible study for them every morning.

A day workshop on Good Governance was held successfully on June 14 for clergy  serving near by Toungoo and their council members and diocesan staff at Diocesan office.

Boarding hostels

180 students from remote villages are now staying at 6 boarding hostels in the diocese and attending their respective classes of 2012/2013 acadedmic year.

Public meeting of KNU leaders (2nd Brigade) with people

Public meeting of KNU leaders ( 2nd Brigade) with people was held from May 15 to 17 at Baw Galee Gyi and about thousand of delegates from  various organizations, villages and churches were attended. The Rt. Revd. John Wilme, 9 priests and a youth attended this meetings as delegates of Toungoo Diocese. Bishop presented wishes of clergy and people in Toungoo Diocese and Rev'd. Kyaw  Nyein shared his experiences as he had served for years amidst conflict between government army and KNU. Naw Eh Eh Mu, delegate youth also asked question about the role of women in KNU.There were various of questions and answers during the meeting. KNU leaders explained their peace talk process with the Government to the people.  PRAY FOR ETERNAL PEACE.

preschool teachers workshop

42 preschool teachers serving at 17 preshools in Toungoo Diocese safely arrived yesterday to attend workshop. Rev. Soe Paing Aye led morning devotion and bible study  based on Faithfulness from 8:00 am to 9:00 am. Daw Joy Hla Gyaw and U San Lin from development desk, provincial office presented paper on child protection code of conduct of CPM from 9:00 to 11:30 am. They break for lunch from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. Afternoon session was led by Daw Jenny Po Khin from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. They discussed and did practical about lesson plan together. Tomorrow sessions will begin with morning devotion at 8:00 am. Please hold them in your prayers during workshop.

Pastoral visit in April,2012

Bishop John visited Htee Day parish and was  with parishioners for Easter celebration at Tai Su village from April 5 to 8. A new church was dedicated on April 7 and 54 were confiremd. Bishop and 11 diocesan workers  visited 7 villages in Northern Mia Phyu parish from April 11 to 18 and 43 were confirmed during the visit. Bishop was with parishioners of St. George's Church, Thandaunggyi for the 73rd Anniversary thanksgiving on April 21 and 22 and 87 were confirmed. 5 Holy Cross Theological College graduates were ordained as deacon on Sunday, 22.  Bishop was with St. Mark's Church, Thandaung Myotthit for the celebration of St. Mark's feast on April 29.

 Short training courses for diocesan staff and workers was successfully held from April 27 to 30 at diocesan office, Toungoo. Revd. Tan Piah and wife, Mr. Daniel Kho and wife were invited guest speaker of this training. Kingdom living is theme of the training.

Brief history of Diocese:

                  Inaugurated on January 1, 1994, 24 parishes, 110 villages & a few towns, about 20000 baptized members, 36 priests & 6 deacons, 13 diocesan office staff, 25 workers, 86 community health workers, 65 traditional birth attendants, 102 catechists. A priest has to look after more than 5 to 10 villages in a parish; somevillages cannot be accessed since 1996 because of the present situation because of the conflict. The diocese is doing programs for people such as socialwelfare, health programmes, and education for children from remote areas etc.There is a need for peace.

Diocese is running pre-schools for children ages 3 to 5, helping children from remote areas for education through boarding hostels, running clinic and giving treatment & health education through medical mobile team, running integrated farming training for community, Dorcas’ sewing training for women & teaching English language for young people in the community, providing materials and technical assistance of water supply and sanitation for villages,helping  villages  through development projects, training churchworkers through St. Peter’s Bible School & leadership promotion program.
